Google is now making satellite pictures of landing sites, meteor impacts, lava flows and evidence of water available for the World Wide Web. These Google technicians have many image altering programs and techniques to clarify the sometimes scrambled images received from the satellites. Also aiding in the endeavor is NASA who are hosting these cameras onboard NASA's Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft. Soon the Popular Google Earth will be outdated and the frenzy will flock towards the new Google Mars.

The recent creation and easy availability of the Google earth is a thing that has fascinated many people and also been questioned by many concerned citizens. Many see the god-like view of the world as a "map for terrorists" or an "invasion of privacy". But for many more it is just a fun toy to kill time with or look at in between checking their e-mail and doing their homework. It is an interesting ability to look down at the world, zoom in so close you can the tree house in my parents backyard.

How will this affect terrorism? I don’t think this will affect terrorism much. Yes it provides perfect maps of practically every inch of the world but the world is already discovered and there is not much to hide that hasn’t been hidden already. As for the creation of Google Mars I think that the Google Earth fanatics will take a look at it but won’t truly appreciate it and probably won’t spend the hours on it like they do on Google Earth. One of the best things about Google Earth is looking at things that you have seen in real life or places you've lived or wanted to visit. Google Mars will become quit boring for the average looker because of the unfamiliarity of the planet.

This is however a great advance in technology and information accessibility. It is exciting to see what new things our top master-minds will think up and create next.
